24 December - Mary and Joseph reach Christ Church

Over the period of Advent many members of Christ Church have hosted models of Mary Joseph and the Donkey as part of our Posada, a Mexican tradition. The aim has been to get people to think about the journey that Mary and Joseph took all those years ago. Its good to know that Mary, Joseph and the Donkey made it safely to Church on Christmas eve.

If you subscribe to our service recordings podcast then the location of all the service files will have changed. We ran out of space on our existing site so have moved all the recordings to a new, temporary site. This will allow a full review of our hosting and a decision on what to do will be made later in the year.

Congratulations to Revd Canon Dr Stephen Palmer

Our former Vicar, now the Vicar of Newport Minster on the Isle of Wright, has been appointed chaplain to the Queen.

Canon Palmer, who is vicar of both Newport Minster and St Johns Church, Newport, will be one of 36 chaplains to the Queen, who preach once a year, usually in the Queen's Chapel at St James's Palace, Windsor.

Bishop of Portsmouth the Rt Rev Kenneth Stevenson said: I am delighted Canon Palmer has been given this honour. It is a public recognition not only of his personal ministry, but also of his role in relation to the whole island community as vicar of Newport Minster.

Stephen will be presented to the Queen before the royal garden party in July this year.
