The aim has been to get people to think about the journey that Mary and Joseph took all those years ago. Canon Palmer, who is vicar of both Newport Minster and St Johns Church, Newport, will be one of 36 chaplains to the Queen, who preach once a year, usually in the Queen's Chapel at St James's Palace, Windsor. Bishop of Portsmouth the Rt Rev Kenneth Stevenson said: I am delighted Canon Palmer has been given this honour. It is a public recognition not only of his personal ministry, but also of his role in relation to the whole island community as vicar of Newport Minster.
