Our Youth Group
The Christ Church youth group meets most
Sunday evenings from 6pm to 8pm at the vicarage. The members are
young people from school year 9 upwards, and we meet for friendship,
fun and Christian teaching and discussion. On the third Sunday
of the month members are encouraged to attend the informal evening
service and afterwards gather at the vicarage until 8pm.
The young people take responsibility to run
the sessions, volunteering either singly or in pairs to prepare an
activity for a specified week. We also like to help the wider church
when we can, for example running stalls at the Summer Fete and
Advent Fayre and serving and washing up at the Candlelight and
Harvest Suppers.
Recently we have joined with four other small youth groups from
local churches for 'The Gathering' – a joint meeting two or three
times a term. The churches take it in turns to host, and the larger
numbers of young people then involved enables us to have sung
worship, relevant talks or social activities like quizzes and games,
and we always finish with refreshments. These meetings run from 7.30
until 9pm, although if we are travelling we usually meet at the
vicarage at 7pm.
